Why a medical alert tattoo?

In an emergency, you may not be able to speak. EMTs and ER staff check the inner wrist for medical alert bracelets and tattoos. An alpha-gal alert tattoo warns them to avoid mammal-derived medications that could trigger anaphylaxis:

  • Heparin — porcine-derived anticoagulant, standard in ER/surgery
  • Gelatin IV solutions — plasma expanders used in trauma
  • Bovine surgical products — hemostatic agents, surgical mesh
  • Gelatin capsules — many emergency medications use gelatin shells
Alpha-gal wrist tattoo design preview

The wrist design uses bold black ink only — optimized for temporary tattoo printing or as a template for permanent ink. The full design adds the Star of Life symbol and lone star tick icon for larger placements (upper arm, chest).

Print temporary tattoos at home with inkjet tattoo paper, or order custom packs from print-on-demand services.
